Berkel – USA Canada Model 80

The U.S. flywheel slicer Berkel model 80 was built in the period from 1912 to 1916 at first in the factory of Chicago – Illinois ,then in the factory of La Porte – Indiana. The model 80 uses a blade with a diameter of 350 mm. protected in the back by a tubular blade cover fixed both in the upper part and in the lower one by means of the knurled knobs for a quick removal to carry out a thorough cleaning, while in the part directly in front of the flywheel is provided with a hand guard that protects the operator being used for cutting the product from damage caused by the blade.

The model 80 uses a blade with a diameter of 350 mm. protected in the back by a tubular blade cover fixed both in the upper part and in the lower one by means of the knurled knobs for a quick removal to carry out a thorough cleaning, while in the part directly in front of the flywheel is provided with a hand guard that protects the operator being used for cutting the product from damage caused by the blade.This model of slicer is provided with a nickel-plated iron fork with easy opening and removal for the complete cleaning of the blade and like all products Berkel has a drawer door waste, placed at the bottom of the blade and accessible at the back of the machine where they are recovered the various scraps and small cut-outs of the cut products.The model 80 has a regulation of the thickness of the slice with 24 positions placed on the right side of the body slicer, where you can see a prominent part in which the mechanism of adjustment / advancement. The sharpener is a new concept with a rounded shape, also used in the U.S. model 70 and model 100. The model 80 resting on the original pedestal is driven by a flywheel with a floral design manual with a external diameter of 368 mm. with the embossed lettering "U.S. Slicing Machine La Porte Indiana" and the advancement of the plate where the product to be cut is fixed through a four-pronged worm screw placed in the underside of the cart. The model 80 was produced and restored in red and the metal parts were originally nickel-plated. This machine has a total dimensions of 840 mm. length 640 mm. width and 650 mm. height and needs a support on the original pedestal of 260 mm. x 460 mm. The flywheel slicer Berkel model 80 altogether weighs 112 Kg.
